Biography

Prof. Vadim E. Fraifeld is an internationally recognized expert in aging research, stem cell biology, and regenerative medicine. At Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, he leads both the Laboratory for the Biology of Aging and the Research Group on Biological Determinants of Aging, Longevity, and Age-Related Diseases within the Center for Multidisciplinary Research on Aging. His research focuses on: Systems biology of aging Cellular senescence and senotherapeutics Stem cell biology and extracellular vesicles (EVs) Regenerative strategies for age-related diseases and lifespan extension Selected Publications “Mesenchymal stem cells and their derivatives as potential longevity-promoting tools” Biogerontology, 2025; 26(3):96. Reviews the potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their extracellular vesicles (EVs) as emerging senotherapeutic and longevity-promoting agents. (PubMed) “Stem cells in ageing and longevity: a new section in Biogerontology” Biogerontology, 2025; 26(2):69. Editorial co-authored with Suresh I.S. Rattan, launching a new journal section dedicated to stem cells in aging and longevity. (SpringerLink, Ben-Gurion University Research Portal) “Stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles as senotherapeutics” Ageing Research Reviews, 2024; 99:102391. Explores the application of stem cell-derived EVs as senescence-targeting therapeutics in aging and age-related disorders. (PubMed) “Rejuvenation and Longevity: Introduction to Rejuvenology” Springer, 2024. Co-authored with Khachik K. Muradian, this book introduces Rejuvenology, outlining scientific principles, interventions, and strategies for healthspan and lifespan extension. (SpringerLink, ResearchGate) Conclusion Prof. Fraifeld's work bridges molecular biology, aging science, and translational medicine, with a vision to unlock novel interventions against aging and age-related diseases. His pioneering contributions continue to shape the field of biogerontology and stem cell research globally.
