AASCM Laboratory Accreditation Program

Establishing the standard for quality and safety in stem cell and biologic product laboratories.

The American Academy of Stem Cell Medicine is developing a voluntary on-site accreditation framework for laboratories involved in the collection, processing, storage, and administration of stem cell and biologic products. Facilities that register early will be among the first to receive program details and launch updates.

About the Program

As the regenerative medicine field continues to grow, so does the need for consistent, verifiable standards in laboratory practice. AASCM is building an accreditation program designed to give stem cell and biologic product laboratories a clear pathway to demonstrating quality, safety, and operational integrity.

This program will provide independent, on-site evaluation of laboratory facilities against a defined set of standards developed by AASCM in consultation with practitioners, researchers, and regulatory subject matter experts. Accreditation will serve as a recognized credential that a facility meets or exceeds the benchmarks expected by the broader medical and scientific community.

The program is currently in development. AASCM is committed to building a framework that is rigorous, practical, and aligned with the evolving regulatory landscape for regenerative medicine.

How Accreditation Will Work

A structured, transparent evaluation process designed to uphold the highest standards in laboratory practice.

1

Application and Eligibility Review

Facilities submit an inquiry and AASCM evaluates baseline eligibility and readiness for the accreditation process.

2

Documentation Review

AASCM reviews standard operating procedures, compliance documentation, personnel credentials, and quality assurance records.

3

On-Site Inspection

Independent assessors conduct a physical evaluation of the facility, equipment, protocols, and operational practices.

4

Accreditation Decision

Based on the full evaluation, AASCM issues an accreditation determination. Accredited facilities receive certification and are recognized as meeting AASCM laboratory standards.
