Research & Publications
“Cardiac-Specific Bdh1 Overexpression Ameliorates Oxidative Stress and Cardiac Remodeling in Pressure Overload-Induced Heart Failure” Demonstrates how modulation of ketone body metabolism protects against oxidative stress and cardiac remodeling in heart failure. (AHA Journals) “D-Glutamate is metabolized in heart mitochondria” Reveals a previously unrecognized pathway for D-glutamate metabolism in cardiac mitochondria, adding new insight into heart metabolism. “MURC deficiency in smooth muscle attenuates pulmonary hypertension” Highlights how loss of MURC in smooth muscle cells reduces the severity of pulmonary hypertension. Academic and Clinical Leadership Since 2015, Prof. Matoba has led the Department of Cardiovascular and Renal Medicine at KPUM. He also serves as the Vice President of the university. His department actively collaborates with over 60 hospitals and hundreds of primary care clinics throughout the Kansai region, contributing to both research and clinical education.
